Distributed energy resources management systems (DERMs) are often touted as the magic ingredient for unlocking higher adoption of distributed energy resources (DERs). Questions remain around how and when these systems should be implemented. If done too soon, they could result in cost increases. If done too late, operational concerns may arise that are difficult to correct This panel will explore this delicate balance and discuss the logical triggers to transition from tariff- or program-based DER policy to DERMS platforms.
