Stephen Schneider is a seasoned professional in the renewable energy and technology sectors, currently serving as the Manager and Principal Software Engineer of the IntelliDispatch Data Science Team at Wärtsilä Energy Storage and Optimization. With a strong industry presence since 2007, Stephen's expertise lies in developing optimization-based control systems for microgrids and grid-tied renewables with energy storage. Previously, as Chief Information Officer at Enernet Global, a global microgrid development company, Stephen played a key role in their success by creating advanced geospatial and statistical analysis tools, writing microgrid sizing and control optimization software, and securing patents. His extensive engineering, software, and and data science experience also includes notable contributions at MathWorks, BetterPlace, and Codexis.
Stephen holds a Master's degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Stanford University and a Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering from Boston University. Outside of work, he actively serves on the Environmental Protection Board in Stamford, CT, where he resides with his family. With a passion for sustainable living, Stephen has been a dedicated vegan for over a decade and was an enthusiastic bicycle commuter before the advent of remote work.
