Alfredo Fernández González is an award-winning educator and professor at the UNLV School of Architecture. He is the Founding Director of the Natural Energies Advanced Technologies Lab, past president of the Society of Building Science Educators (SBSE), and a Fellow of the American Solar Energy Society (ASES).
A well-recognized scholar, Alfredo has published more than 50 scholarly articles related to his research interests in passive and low-energy heating and cooling systems for buildings; energy efficiency; and the design of building-integrated water harvesting, treatment, and reuse systems. His research and creative work have been recognized with awards such as the ASES Solar Architecture and Design Leadership Award, the U.S. Green Building Council-Nevada Chapter Leadership in Research Award, the Architecture Research Centers Consortium (ARCC) Best Architectural Research Paper of the Year Award, and an American Institute of Architects-Las Vegas Chapter Design Citation Award for a net-zero energy pavilion featuring passive and active solar technologies.
