Fault-Managed Power is a Game Changer for LV Power Distribution

A Class 4 classification system , dealing with fault-managed power and cabling, has been accepted into the 2023 NEC as new Article 726. Class 4 systems permit safe transfer of higher-voltage power & data with load circuits up to 450V peak AC or DC. Fault Managed Power makes higher voltages and power levels “touch-safe.” This presentation will describe the basic technology to make FMP, typical uses, and the economic impact of applying it to these and other new uses of electricity in microgrids and other power systems for residential, C&I and other distributed power generation, storage and distribution applications.
