There has been a growing interest in the use of digital technologies in the building industry, particularly in the area of low voltage systems. Additionally, Article 726 of the 2023 National Electric Code (NEC) has defined Fault Managed Power (FMP/Class 4 power). Its safety profile resembles Class 2 and will start becoming part of electrical building systems. This session will explore how packaged low voltage digital building solutions can help increase margins for builders and contractors. Low voltage systems offer several benefits, such as lower installation cost, improved energy efficiency, faster installation and increased safety. By incorporating plug and play digital technologies into these systems, Electrical Contractors can further optimize their performance, reduce labor costs, and improve project timelines thereby increasing margins. This session will examine packaged plug and play digital building solutions, consisting of the combination of FMP, PoE, and related technologies currently available providing an infrastructure for lighting, sensors, WiFi, security cameras, and other building systems. It will also highlight how these systems can be integrated into a building's infrastructure to deliver increased functionality, convenience, and cost savings, thereby increasing project profitability and value to the owner.
