Peak Power’s Peak Drive demonstration consists of 20 Nissan Leaf bi-directional electric vehicles and chargers installed at two commercial buildings in downtown Toronto. The chargers communicate with t’he company's Peak Synergy software which effectively turns the Nissan EVs into energy storage assets. During peak moments the buildings connected to the chargers can pull energy from the EVs rather than the grid, lowering their utility costs and strain on the grid. The project has realized annual energy savings of $6,000 USD per vehicle, proving that with the right hardware and software, EVs can become a revenue-generating asset and grid resource.
