The current landscape of non-lithium long duration storage technologies is vast and every changing. The status (commercialization) of various technologies and the applicability to various use cases can be cumbersome to understand. This presentation will focus on a market update of non-lithium long duration storage technologies, what is commercially available, what is commercialization/development status, etc. This presentation will also discuss general applicability to various use cases and discuss/highlight higher level attributes of the various technologies current available and in development. This is not intended to highlight or address characteristics of specific technologies but rather that of general technology types (i.e., thermal storage, pumped hydro, mechanical energy storage, gravity storage, CAES, LAES, etc.). The intent is to help provide clarity and direction and characteristics of the various technology types and help to provide a road map for which type of technology may be more or less suitable for various use cases.
