Integrated Transmission and Distribution Real-Time Analysis for Monitoring and Control

The US electric grid is facing operational, stability, and security challenges. Transmission system operators need better visibility into distributed generation assets to ensure these technologies can in turn support the transmission system. How can industry players and grid operators alike take advantage of growing measurement technologies to defend against attacks and ensure a reliable system for all? This session will explore an Integrated System Model (ISM) that spans from transmission to secondary distribution. The ISM approach can be deployed in real-time abnormality detection, voltage stability forecasting, and hierarchical, multi-mode, coordinated control.
