PV Module Supply Chain Traceability Standards and Technology for Reuse and Recycling

Description and Background: This poster will provide an overview of a new DOE-funded project to develop supply chain and asset traceability standards and supporting technology for PV modules. The end result will be a standard that allows manufacturers to apply a smart tag (barcode, QR code, or RFID) to each module that contains a dataset based on industry standards. The dataset will include module attributes including country of origin, manufacturer, serial number, rating, specifications, and material components. The goal of the tag is to allow any supply chain participant to scan and retrieve data to support use cases such as verification, asset management, refurbishment, and recycling. A tracking database will also be developed that allows supply chain participants to register important events such as intake, testing, replacement, decommissioning, and recycling.
