Description and Background: High-power solar nanogrids are poised to disrupt the trillion-dollar utility industry.
This session explains the “last three miles” of distributed solar – from the “first mile” of solar energy production on the roof with net-metering, to the “second mile” of on-site energy storage for energy price arbitrage and resilience of critical load panels, to the “third mile” of high-power solar-battery energy systems which can deliver the same power as utility service of 100 A, 200 A or even 800 A.
High-power nanogrids no longer rely on the utility for peak power and treat it as an energy source instead. They strengthen the relationship of the customer with the utility but also open enormous opportunities for the utility companies.
