Description and Background: PV module quality risks do not end when the modules leave the factory - there is significant risk of damage to modules during shipping and installation. This creates financial risk for solar developers, who could face project underperformance due to damaged modules, and EPCs, who risk facing blame for damage which occurred prior to the arrival of modules at the job site. This session would discuss the risks present and what can be done to mitigate these risks and prevent damage. Many discussions of module quality end when the modules leave the factory, without consideration of what happens to the modules next. This session will feature insights from CEA’s extensive experience in post-shipment and post-installation module inspections including discussions of the most frequently observed types of module damage and their causes.
