The passage of the Inflation Reduction Act created more certainty for the solar industry at the federal level, but is it enough to put an end to the solar-coaster? In almost every state, the future of policy is ever so changing and is not nearly as clear. By looking at a variety of representative solar projects (residential, commercial, and small-scale utility) and analyzing them under a variety of policy regimes, we can start to see the magnitude and importance of good (and bad!) policy. We have already seen good state level policy drive immense growth and environmental impact into select markets as in the case for Illinois, and New York.
Viewers of this poster will walk away with the understanding of how policy affects the solar industry and how much of the industry is reliant on such policies.
