Description and Background: The use of open source software in Commercial and Industrial (C&I) solar asset management is a new trend but has broad implications toward the goals of lowering soft costs, improving asset performance, and creating new solutions through the fusion of data sets that previously were locked in “data silos”. Ecogy Energy is a proponent of the use of open source software, sometimes in collaboration with national labs, to better manage a C&I solar portfolio with a characteristic “multi-vendor footprint”. In this presentation, Ecogy will illustrate the practical benefits it has found from field experience with deploying open-source, and touch upon some of the exciting benefits of “data fusion” that can really only be actualized with this methodology.
