Career Highlights
In 1990, David Wilhoit started his career with Wacker Siltronic in the Silicon Wafer sales organization advancing throughout the Sales and Marketing organization including Regional VP of the US.
David spent 12 years overseas in Japan and Singapore moving from Marketing to site leadership of production facilities. These roles included the final steps of Merger with Nippon Steel’s wafer manufacturing.
2008, David returned to Singapore as the President and CEO of Siltronic Samsung Wafer Pte. Ltd. (SSW), a joint venture between Siltronic and Samsung for producing 300 mm wafers. During his tenure at SSW, the site ramped from pilot production to beyond its name plate capacity with benchmark yield and cost position.
In 2014, Siltronic took the majority share of the JV in which David was active in discussions with Government agencies, numerous banking groups and the Shareholders. David was part of the integration project to bringing SSW into the Siltronic local and global organization.
In 2015, after the integration of Wacker Siltronic, David was named President and CEO of the North America region.
Over his tenure at the helm of the region, WACKER has ramped up its $2.6 billion Polysilicon plant in Tennessee, opened a regional R&D center, started a Fumed Silica plant and acquired a Plasmid DNA center for the Biologics market in San Diego. In 2022, WACKER announced additional investments in silicone production capabilities in the region, most recently opening a new Innovation Center and Regional Headquarters in Ann Arbor, Michigan – a $50 million-plus investment that has set the stage for even further growth in this region.
