Sherrick Roanhorse is a Senior Government Affairs Manager at the Public Service Company of New Mexico (PNM). He collaborates with state, federal and community partners to work toward positive legislative and policy outcomes that strengthen the energy grid and transition to a resilient, affordable, clean energy future.
Through genuine conversations and strategically engaging community stakeholders, Sherrick has been successful in seeing through several priority initiatives for PNM and its customers. He helped negotiate electric franchise fee and LED street light conversion agreements with municipalities, organized coalition support to help pass the historic New Mexico Energy Transition Act, and co-created the innovative subscription-based PNM Solar Direct program to provide renewable energy to local governments from a solar facility located on sovereign Native American land.
Before joining PNM, Sherrick served as Chief of Staff to the late Navajo Nation President Ben Shelly, where he directed day-to-day operations of tribal government and managed key priority initiatives, including the streamlining of executive branch spending, completing major water infrastructure projects, reframing the tribe’s energy policy, and saving area energy jobs.
Sherrick holds a Master of Business Administration and a Dual Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and English from the University of New Mexico. He remains active in the community through his board leadership roles with the Navajo Preparatory School, Rio Rancho Regional Chamber of Commerce and One Albuquerque Fund.
