Sequoya has been involved in numerous renewable energy companies since 2004. Currently, she is the VP of Energy Storage for Briggs & Stratton’s Energy Solutions Business, overseeing the Engineering and Product Development team along with supporting and growing the renewables distributor network and managing a portfolio of large scale storage-based projects with development partners.
She was previously working as a solar engineer and operations manager for a social benefits company in the Washington DC area deploying large scale solar refrigeration for cold chain solutions throughout Africa, South America, and Southeast Asia. She has traveled throughout the world training agricultural partners on the benefits of off-grid solar and storage for commercial operations. Her technical background has allowed for a strategic focus on system design and implementation of customized solutions for remote areas all over the world.
Former CEO of two solar companies, Backwoods Solar and Tamarack Solar, Mrs. Cross has managed operations and supply chain for distribution and manufacturing throughout the renewable energy sector. She has also held the position of VP of Operations for AEE Solar, one of the foremost renewable energy distributors in the Americas. By creating operational efficiency AEE Solar was able to achieve over 300% growth over 3 years eventually allowing for the acquisition by SunRun.
Sequoya is a member of Energy Access Practitioner Network for the UN Sustainable Energy for All initiative, The Alliance for Rural Electrification (ARE), Efficiency for Access/CLASP, as well as CALSSA, furthering her involvement on many levels with solar policy and change and served as Board Chair for NorCal Solar, a chapter of ASES.
