Senior Analyst, Research and Industry Strategy
SEPA
Wilmington, North Carolina, United States
Carolyn is a Senior Analyst on the Research and Industry Strategy team, and joined SEPA in March 2021 after having worked as an intern on SEPA’s Regional Microgrids for Resilience Study with the Kentucky Office of Energy Policy in 2020. In her role, she co-leads the Customer Programs Working Group and conducts state resiliency needs assessments, federal electrification and equity research projects, and utility managed charging program development. Carolyn pinpoints opportunities to build resilience along the grid through GIS analysis, which evaluates feeder-level grid reliability data, natural hazard risks, the distribution of critical infrastructure, and the locations of historically disadvantaged or otherwise vulnerable populations. Using the results of this analysis, she leads the development of data visualization and public facing mapping tools. State governments and utilities use these resources to evaluate the success of their programs in reaching vulnerable populations and to identify where future investments, like microgrids, will go to build resiliency.
Prior to joining SEPA, she attended the University of North Carolina Wilmington where she received my B.S. in Environmental Science with minors in sustainability and geospatial technologies in 2020. Carolyn is currently pursuing a M.S. in Energy Policy and Climate at Johns Hopkins University.
