Lithium Rechargeable Battery Talk: Safety, Certification, Public Charging, and "Right To Repair" Worries

There is a significant amount of debate surrounding the performance of lithium-ion rechargeable batteries and the safety of charging them. With UL Solutions being part of the panel, we will be able to cover the latest developments in required electric-drive system certifications and why battery cells and packs of questionable build quality are creating such real problems. Ibrahim Jilani, Global Director of Consumer Technology at UL Solutions, will talk about the recently passed legislation for NYC and the other markets looking to require additional safeguards for rechargeable technology.

Joining Ibrahim will be Tom Schreiber from Perch Mobility, whose company has developed a public container-based bulk charging station for e-scooters, electric-assist bicycles, and even cargo bikes.

The session will be moderated by Ray Verhelst, who will discuss the “Right To Repair” rechargeable battery packs and who can and can’t do this work.
