Moving Beyond Talking Past Each Other: The Challenge of a Diverse Clean Energy Labor Workforce

There is a disconnect with the energy sector and workforce sector on labor issues. Please join us for a panel aiming to push the discourse around clean energy workforce. The panel pushes forward on the known challenges regarding the workforce conversation, including the need for: wraparound services for scaling new community entrants in the workforce, the challenge of federal R&D dollars leading the charge on investing in workforce, the lack of communication points between education and energy sectors, and the timing challenge of training needing to be completed for jobs, but jobs not available until after training completed. With the audience, we’ll discuss the challenges of intersectional work across multiple industries and the workforce and energy sectors, including whether or not it’s valuable to focus on a common language and framework for connecting and communicating across sectors, given the urgency of the workforce issue.
