Hydrogen production from electrolysis is not new, but developing projects at utility scale is still relatively limited. The renewable power industry is moving quickly to develop this emerging market of energy decarbonization; however, there are differences to handling water, hydrogen, and oxygen compared to the electrons of renewable power generation. This discussion addresses topics associated with the construction of the systems that comprise hydrogen production facilities, including electrolyzers, compression, storage, water treatment, cooling, nitrogen and compressed air. Presenters will focus on what developers should consider as they plan their projects and how the function of these process/mechanical systems will affect the overall performance, reliability and financial success of a facility.
