Building Blocks of a Scalable, Equitable, and Cost-Effective Community Solar Market

Community solar is one of the fastest growing forms of renewable energy for its ability to provide local, clean, reliable, and affordable energy. The Department of Energy recently set out a U.S. goal of powering 5 million homes and saving $1 billion by 2025 through community solar. However, to reach that capacity goal, state governments must enable legislation or policy that sets up the framework for successful community solar programs. To ensure scalable, equitable, and cost-effective programs, states must implement thoughtful policies that account for and incentivize the private investment needed for the long-term buildout of efficient community solar projects. Not all programs are created equal, however. This session will highlight the best practices from thriving programs throughout the country.
