Thursday, September 14, 2023
8:00 AM – 12:00 PM PDT
Location: Titian 2301, Level 2, The Venetian
Instructor: U.S. Department of Energy
Price: $55 SEIA/SEPA Members $80 Non-members
Note: This workshop is being made available at lower cost because it is a government-run workshop.
This half-day workshop will explore the factors that influence whether developers of large-scale renewable energy projects, and their contractors, obtain a social license to operate (i.e., achieve ongoing acceptance or approval of a project by the host community). The U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy staff and invited speakers will lead interactive discussions with workshop participants on recent research findings and applicable solutions to help the industry overcome siting barriers. Speakers include leaders from industry, EPCs, environmental consultants, NGOs, and academia with expertise on siting topics such as community engagement, drivers of community opposition, ecosystem services and wildlife compatibility, innovative siting strategies (e.g., agrivoltaics and development on brownfields), and more.
