Long Duration Energy Storage, the Market Landscape

In the last 12 months, we have seen a significant increase in the development of projects using long duration energy storage (LDES). There are many factors causing this uptick in activity. The focus on LDES as COP27, the expansion of the Investment Tax Credit for energy storage, and the local drivers from states like California have all resulted on new interest in advancing the family of technologies covered under the moniker of long duration energy storage. This session will provide an update on the technologies available for LDES, the state of those technologies (included reported round trip efficiency and technical readiness level), along with a current update of projects that are currently being reviewed by various OEM’s and technologies providers. We will also review a few case studies to represent where the industry is heading. Finally, we will discuss what support the industry needs to continue moving forward.
