Workshop Objectives
Part 1 -
Introduction: Principles of Stress Testing
Objectives: 1) Convey the many uses and advantages of Stress Testing. 2) Discuss the positive elements of stress within leadership and the workforce in periods of uncertainty. 3) Show how Stress Testing builds on the carbon reduction research of SEPA. Upon Completion of Part 1, participants will be able to: • Consider how stress testing can benefit evolving organizations. • Discuss the dynamics of stress on leaders in decision-making, communication, and collaboration. • Make connections between SEPA research and organizational modeling.
Part 2 – Foundation: Building Blocks of Contingency Planning
Objectives: 1) Provide basic business modeling techniques to anticipate Carbon Reduction efforts. 2) Set the stage for Stress Testing with SEPA application to follow. Upon Completion of Part 2, participants will be able to: • Create simple models of their current business operations. • Anticipate natural organizational stresses associated with carbon reduction actions.
Part 3 – Experience: Stress Testing Example Game Play
Objectives: 1) Provide an actual stress-testing experience for the participants. 2) Show how leading a stress testing experience brings out emotional responses. Upon Completion of Part 3, participants will be able to: • Use a simplified business example to explore human interactions with their teams. • Create scenarios to test their organization’s culture and adaptability.
Part 4 – Application: Building Your Own Stress Tests
Objectives: 1) Learn to plan stress testing to address current organizational issues. 2) Learn to reflect on results and extract strategic directions. Upon Completion of Part 4, participants will be able to: • Plan stress testing to “test drive” their carbon reduction strategic plans • Start using their own models and plan broader applications.
